Teh shard pistol that kovacs carries is a unique design. It fires off an explosive shell like some guns, put explodes as soon as it leaves the barrel. This causes numerous tiny shards to hit the target with devastating short range effects. Takeshi has each shell have spider venom inside it so each shard will administer the poison. The poison is designed to slowly sap your health but it has been modified so that it will target the major organs not the minor cells so that your heart, lungs, and other major organs will take immediate damage and will kill very quickly. The gun has a maximum range of about 25 ft. and holds 5 shots though after each shot the gun needs to be re-cocked.
