It can deflect Force lightning and turn it back upon its user. It can cut through anything but Sith metal, and can easily hold its own against lightsabers. It has the ability to ignite in Sith fire when plunged into the body of its victim, but only when it is twisted after it pierces deep into the flesh. If dropped inadvertantly, it will automatically seek out IllaAnda's hand once more, cutting through anything to return to her. There it is perfectly balanced with perfect heft.

Though not as long as a traditional battle sword or katana, "Skemmdarvargur" is nevertheless deadly in close combat, allowing IllaAnda to move in where a longer blade is useless.

Magickal Sith inscriptions impart a boost in strength and cunning to the bearer, but only if that bearer has Sith blood. To any other than IllaAnda, the sword is simply a unique short-bladed weapon.
