Without the Claw, the All user may manipulate spacetime in regards to HIM/HERSELF. He or she may use the All to protect him or herself with shielding, or come to the aid of another who is willing to be aided. Only the most powerful of the Sith, the sorcerer clan, and probably in particular the head sorcerer could manipulate the All in a greater fashion without using the Claw. Again, it would be exhausting for him or her, though.

Historically, the Claw has been handed over by a Dark Lord to his Adept, but only when that Lord is satisfied that the Adept is ready to learn how to manipulate the All in an offensive manner, and has learned to satisfactorily use it otherwise. Once that is mastered, the Adept goes through a testing rite, successful passage of which raises the Adept from that station to that of a Sith warrior, lord, weapons master, etc. (Dark Lords are the head Sith of each clan. Aelvedaar is the Dark Lord of the Sorcerer clan; Rean apparently is thus the Dark Lord of the Warrior clan.)

Basically, it is a metallic silver and black, engraved with Sith runes and symbols, articulated, and meant to go over a finger. It is tipped by a sharp focusing claw. There is a place in it where a Nar Kelba may be placed -latest Nar Kelba having been destroyed - to make the finger into a jedi-soul-killing weapon.

This is a one-of-a-kind device, as the knowledge to create it was destroyed in the fall of the Sith. Just to make things fun... it is utterly indestructible.
