Jester is a robot who dreams he is a man. Or maybe it’s the opposite. A perfect android, down the smallest detail, Jester was created as a perfect replica of old Politico’s deceased son. His father. No. the boy’s father. Died when the Senate was exterminated. Jester was without a purpose. He knew he was not the man’s son, but neither was he anything else. His creators, rather than scrapping something which so closely approximated humanity, simply abandoned him. Since then Jester has made his own way. He doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep, he shuts down periodically to recharge his reserves, but other than that he needs no sustenance. Internal systems perform maintenance on him, nanites—microscopic robots, half germ half machine— preserve his form, mend his wounds, replace and refresh spent or worn part. His exterior perfectly approximates human flesh, the nano-bots even spin a stubble for him, so he must shave periodically. Waste heat from his operation is released through his skin so he feels warm to the touch. He looks human. He is not human though and he knows it. Though he sometimes forgets. He has fragmentary memories of a life of carefree privilege, downloaded into his electronic brain, but these memories are incomplete, he was not finished when the engineers stopped working on him. His identity is both synthetic and incomplete. For a time he tried to make his way on Courscant where he was built. He was a grifter, a gamble, a thief, he had somehow translated the grand fraud of his existence into an acumen with deception. He was caught eventually, and he fled from justice, stowing away on cargo-ships and traveling to other worlds. It became clear in the course of time that he would never fit in amoung humans. He lacks what he perceives to be a psychological gyroscope, that orients most sentient life. Without it he is lost in the galaxy. He knew, objectively, that enlightenment often came to sages who meditated in the wilderness. So he killed an old spacer, stole his vessel, and went to Endor, there to meditate on existence. He has sat there for more than a year. No enlightenment has come.

Personality: Jester appears pleasant and kind, though in a very stilted and mechanical way. He is utterly amoral, but he is not incapable of morality, he simply lack it. Part of him desperately seeks definition. He wants a purpose. Because he doesn’t understand faith or spirituality he finds it immensely enticing and frequently mimics it’s behaivior. He could easily be manipulated by one who could, in theory, provide some direction for him.

Abilities: Jester is fluent in Basic, and snippets of other languages he remembers from his implanted memories. He is a proficient pilot, an able marksman, and capable of effectively verbally expressing himself a startling 84% of the time. He knows this figure because it was printed in the last progress report that the scientists who built him filed. He is as strong and fast as you would expect a robot to be, but he must make a concerted effort to exceed the normal parameters of human function which were imposed upon his mechanical body to make him seem authentic. Jester also posses an infallible memory as a result of his robotic nature.

Appearance: Jester is a tall young man with fair skin and hair, high cheekbones and a patrician bearing. He is classically handsome and athletic. Doubtlessly reflecting the idealized form of the person he was built to resemble. His hair is a light auburn, long and parted on the right. He appears perfectly human and utterly normal, however, except for one small flaw. A quirk of his design ensures that his hair always returns to that style no matter how much he musses it. This galls him. An eternal reminder of his inhuman nature and a clear indicator to the casual observer that something is not what it seems.
