OK everyone, this subject is a bit closer to home than comets or meteors or such. George Lucas has given us TIE-fighters... ie: fighter craft whose propulsion systems are the infamous "Twin Ion Engines," which you all know. Well, did you know that this type of propulsion engine is a reality? Yup! NASA first tested this in 1959, and has recently perfected these engines using xenon gas. Currently, we have "Deep Space Probe 1" en route to a 2001 rendezvous with Comet Borelly; this probe is propelled by an ion engine. So, it's gonna land on a comet? That's kinda neat. Or, have they already had probes land on comets? Well, I'd like to see pictures from the surface of a comet...and not ones from the movie "Armagedon"

I don't think it's going to actually land on the comet itself, just perhaps swing close, go through it's tail, gather data and zap it back to earth. I could be wrong though; lemme check this out for ya...
