The phoenix is a destroyer that can give Y-wings a run for their money, but almost any common fighter currently can outrun it.

However, I can outrun most capital ships with its speed. Basically it can run from what it can't fight. It is actually a modified system patrol craft. The Phoenix has about 10 twin turbolaser turrets in ball turrets for a larger firing arc, and has 4 forward fiering banks of proton torpedo tubes. These are the main weapons of the ship. Each bank has 5 proton torpedo tubes, so when it enters combat, it can launch of a volley of protonic death and stop most ships dead in their tracks. She has improved the shields on the ship, and enlarged the cargo bay. The cost of this is the fact that the lifesupport systems are only in the bridge and quarters, and can be turned off in the bay during travel, and in consequence has to carry less people.

She also added fighter racks, and another hangar bay. All in all now, the ship can carry 5 light frieghters (to pick up cargo/board the ship), 5 gunboats (to blow up big stuff), and about 12 fighters (to take care of fighter cover). However, this lowered the space for weapons, so the current guns are the maximum.
