Generally speaking, hyperspace is (in science fiction) a notional space orthogonal to the usual dimensions of space-time often used for faster-than-light travel, while subspace is (in science fiction) any (often unspecified) method of communicating faster than light. The former is that through which matter may travel. The latter is that through which energy does. |
