Winged demons are denizens of the Darker Realms, as are the demonic imps (see "Maladius" in "character" descriptions). However, unlike the imps, who come into being with every thought or action of pure evil that happens in the known Universe, the winged demons are created by over-use of the Eternal Flame (see "Eternal Flame" in "other" descriptions). When a user of power, be it magick, the Force, or the All, comes to the Eternal Flame for power enhancement, he or she is at risk of being consumed by the evil which in essence is the Eternal Flame. Since the enhancement is upheld as long as the user is physically in front of the flame, and the longer he or she chooses to remain there the more evil flows into him or her from the Darker Realms. At length there is so much influx that the user is utterly consumed by the evil, and becomes part and parcel of the Darker Realms, for all eternity, in the form of a winged demon. Winged demons are humanoid in shape, slender and lithe, with claws on their fingers and toes. They have piercing red eyes, great fangs displayed in drooling mouths, and possess great bat-wings. Since there are less of them than the imps, and since they can fly, they are higher up in the Darker Realms heirarchy, and can act as lieutenants over the imps, who can be considered foot soldiers in the great army of the dark. They are allowed in places within the Realms in which the imps are forbidden to go. |
