Arandil is one of the last descendants from the House of Isildur, and so is a strong warrior amongst the Dunedain rangers in Rivendell. Like his fellow brethren, Arandil was trained in warfare by the Elves, though he did not know why. Eventually, his bloodline was revealed to him at the age of 20 and he accepted his fate of being one of the heirs to the throne of Gondor.

However, he is not the heir to the throne, and the one who was has gone missing. When he was just a baby, a raiding party from Dunland ambushed a caravan of women and children he was travelling with. When the Elves counterattacked and destroyed the Dunlendings in their camp, the baby was nowhere to be found.

Now, 35 years-old, Arandil has set out from Rivendell on a quest to find this lost brother and return him to the throne. The ranger is armed with a sword, an Elven dagger, and a bow. He wears chainmail armour under a tunic and wrist bands that display the White Tree of Gondor. He carries an arrow quiver, a bedroll, and a knapsack.

Arandil is about 5'9" in height, dark eyes, and has black hair (which comes down to his neck) and a beard. He has a rough, yet noble look.

Arandil is good-natured and compassionate but he is very reclusive about himself, his past, and his mission. When it comes to fighting, he is accurate with the bow (but not as good as an Elf) and very skillful with his blade weapons. As a ranger, he has some wilderness lore, speaks Elvish, knowledge against the Enemy, and trained with the use of medicine.

NOTE: In "Shadows of the Night" I mentioned Arandil's father, Arungvir. His father was the High Chieftain of all the Dunedain tribes before he was killed by the Dunelendings when they ambushed him, the Elves, and Arandil's brother.
