The Master, as he is known, is from a future untold in the universe of our characters. He is of a group that believed the future was best controlled by marshalling the past, and through great magicks, technology, and All-use they found a way to send a person’s consciousness back through time. This led to many unnatural events and the creation of timelines, and when the group discovered the true nature of their actions they ceased immediately and vowed to prevent such disastrous changes.The Master, however, is not aware of this vow. He, along with his protégé Thoran, was sent back to ensure the survival of the galaxy. By changing a few things over the course of a day he could prevent the invasion of the galaxy by a horrible force. But in order to create the setting for this one day, he needed to set a great many events in motion.
He plucked the consciousness of Phalomir from the moment before death and created an elaborate hoax for him to play through. The Eye of R’lous, a powerful item that would play a great role in this story, was needed but was a mystery to The Master, so he placed Phalomir’s essence in it in hopes that he could unlock its secrets. The Master and Thoran went along for the ride and implanted a set of memories for Phalomir to follow, locking away his true memories.
The last pieces were to be supplied by Lord Roan, and a strange bargain was struck between them to ensure the necessary arrangements were ready when the time came. But Roan betrayed The Master, and even before that was realized he was killed by the Eye. The Master’s plans failed and now he is driven only by the insanity of his situation and the influence of his new-found friend Aelvedaar.
The Master still resides inside of Thoran’s mind, but is planning on soon moving out.
