If you haven't seen the movie yet, don't read any further, this discussion will contain spoilers!!!!!!!!

Well I sure as hell enjoyed it! I wish I could go see it again today, but I can't cause I have stupid senior awards night at my school. I prolly won't get any awards anyways....

So what was your favorite part about the movie?

Did it let you down in anyway?

It was kinda sad and ended on a sour note, not the wedding, just the whole, yea....

Yoda is a f'in pimp though, that was my favorite part.

Wow - I really loved it it was great!!! As for favorite part well hmm that's a hard one... I don't really know it was all so good but the part that let me down was the fact that I had to see it in French for the first time and thereby missed most of what i assume was the crucial dialogue and
"Il y a des années, en un galaxie lointaine, tres lointaine..."

Just doesn't have that same mind boggling effect - not to meantion the number of words per sentence and sentences per paragraph in the scroll up was wrong and the rythm off with the translation... Some of which in the dialogue i did get was very very very poorly done... I hope... But that's jsut the Frogs for you - can't be satisfied like hte rest of the world with Original Langauge and Subtitles, very hard to get a feel for hte actors that way - so I most watched and listened to hte score over hte dialogue...

Also the stupid French in the Theater laughed at really wrong parts.... They don't understand anything....

Obi Wan to Anakin "why do i get the feeling yo're going to be the death of me"

I thought it was superb, pure old school Star Wars.
Your starting to see the conflict in Anakin(although through bad acting), but there are 5 or 6 special sceens.
How the whole Storm Toopers, are sporned from the fetts, was great. And Christopher Lee was quality. I didn't really knew where Count Dooku stood untill the end, having told Obi Wan that a Sith was in control of the senit. Cheered me up no end after being really disapointed with Ep1,nowi cant weight untill Ep3.

First of all, this is loaded with spoilers so don't read unless you have seen the film.

---------------------------------

OH MY GOODNESS THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Ewan as Obi-Wan, MAN he is so convincing. Again there are so many details of the acting he's paid attention to to make himself a convincing young Alec Guiness.

I like Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship. You can see where the kid is going the wrong way from scene one with he and Obi. The kid has a smart mouth, and I really think that possibly the small age difference between Anakin and his master has a part in Anakin's downfall. He views himself as being better or AT LEAST as good as his master at things, and this is the wrong way to go if you are truly intending on LEARNING from your teacher.

Hayden. Woah buddy, that kid can really show some fire in his eyes. I really thought he was a convincing Anakin slipping to the darkside. You still see him WANTING to be good. But then he lets his emotions control his actions and LATER realizes what he's done. Sooner or later he's gonna be lead to deciding that acting with those emotions is okay because hey, he's the choosen one and his emotions SHOULD be right. "You don't need guidance, Anakin. I forsee you will become the greatest of all Jedi."

Yoda. HELLO. I had NO IDEA he was gonna kick Dooku's butt at the end. That was just...awesome. Size really matters not.

And NOW that we know what role Jar Jar plays in all of this based on the events of Episode II, I think it really was important to know he was a bumbling idiot via Episode I. He was so easily manipulated to vote that Palpy have emergency powers. He should have known Senator Amidala would NOT vote for Palpy to have those emergency powers, had he really been paying attention. No wonder they wanted to kill her off. She'd become a strong-minded individual. Who wants someone like that when you can just manipulate someone else who would take her place?

But the biggest thrill of this movie for me will always be Anakin and Obi-Wan. We feel their frustrations, yet sense the connection between the two of them. Anakin's "He's like my father" is rather surprising to hear but not really. There's a fall-out between them in the works, and I dread seeing what will occur to finally pull Obi-Wan off Anakin's father pedestal. We know it's gonna be ugly. Anakin is portrayed very well as a hot-headed youth who wants to live life his way and doesn't respond well to authority. We see his anger in Hayden's eyes and movements, yet we also sense that he knows what he is becoming and doesn't like it. I'd venture to say he never WILL like it. We get a glimpse of Anakin's view on politics, and it comes as no surprise he's rather fond of what Padme calls a "dictatorship." No wonder Palpy sucks him in.

Okay, I'll stop rambling now. I could use another few viewings for this film to completely meld with the other Star Wars, but hey, I was impressed.

Nicely done.

I haven't seen it yet, but will do so fairly soon. I will say I did buy the sound track and was a bit disappointed in that. I was looking for Williams to outdo himself yet again (ie: Imperial March just was so great after one goes thinking the basic SW Theme was wonderful... and then we get The Emperor's Theme in EP6, followed, of course, by Maul's Fight theme in EP1.)

I was waiting and waiting all through the CD to hear the next good dark battle/representative theme... and never found it.

Oh well, it is difficult to keep topping oneself, isn't it-- although I will admit the Love Theme was haunting and beautiful. The best track on the entire CD.

Spoilers

When I saw the movie, I was sitting there watching it with my sister, and when it came ot Yoda coming out of the shadows to fight Count Dooku....no one couldn't help but clap in the theathers. Everyone was roaring with joy, and specially when he otok ou this green lightsaber, and everyone was screaming loud when Mace killed Jobba Fett. I think this could be the best Star Wars out of the new generation, I mean better then the next one. I haven't seen clips as they haven't even started it, but I just know this one is a great one, piled with the greatest hits.

But, who played Anakin, I believe he played it well. I mean, you have ot remember in these times Jedi's were more formal, and they couldn't do so much things as cry alot, and he wasn't suppose to I believe. Alot of emotion wasn't suppose to be showed, as that could draw you to the darkside.

But the fights, with all the Jedi's against those droids were the best, that was completely the best. Mace was killing everything, Obi-Wan was tight, and Count Dooku seems to be dark, but not as dark as Darth Maul, or Darth Vader. I dont understand how this guy is so old and is a apprentance, that punk had nothing on Yoda.

But the bad part is how Anakin lost his arm, with that golden thing left now, it looks like shit. The only time I seen him express anything would be in the love scenes, where he is supposed to, as he has been dreaming about her and his mother every single day!

The whole movie was monstorious, very nice....

PADME IS FINE!!!!!!!!!!!

Dooku was trained by Yoda and went to the darkside later in life. Also look at how old anakin/vader was when he was palpatines apprentice.

It was amazing- ive seen it 6 times, and it gets better every time.......

Mace Windu may very well be my favorite charcter, next to the lovable Palpatine...

I swear, the whole audience went nuts when Yoda and Dooku had their fight- amazing!!!!!

I wish we could have seen a bit more of Anakin slaughtering the Tuskin raiders....

My only complaint is that they really havnt defined what the Sith are, so unless you've read about Star wars lore, most viewers will have no idea what the Sith is all about.....

And the special effects- i loved the B52 style spaceship in the beginning- and Jango Fett- man, the fight between him and Obi Wan on the water planet was amazing..
And the chase through Corresant- true, it was eeirily similar to the chase in the film "The Fifth Element", but it was a stunner...

And the fight scene, Windu beheading Jango, fighting clone armies, AWSOME!!!!!!!!

Local papers gave it a C rating- the film was a stunner- my favorite since Return Of The Jedi..

Peace

According to Lucas in an interview in time magazine the 1 with yoda on the front cover he says episode 3 is very dark and that it might be too dark for some people. But thats his story and he is gonna tell it he says. He said the same thing after episode 1, how people wouldnt like it cause anikan was only 9 years old.
So for all of you who loved the empire stikes back episode 3 should be right up your ally

My favorite part had to be when Yoda and Dooku were fighting. Yoda kicks ASS. Need I say more?

Hayden Christensen does a great job of portraying Anakin...one minute he's all sweet and tender, and the next, you can see the dark side smoldering in his eyes. He can just about talk with those eyes. Really, really good.

I wish we had seen more in the way of romance between Anakin and Padme. It seemed kind of contrived to me, a little, "Hi, I love you, let's be together even though we're doomed." I would have liked to see the romance unfold a bit more naturally, but I guess you can't fit everything in a 2 1/2 hour movie.

I can't wait for Episode III!!!

Yes i agree lucas rushed the love story a little, but it would of been a 3 hour movie if he wanted to make it more realistic. Also i would of loved to see Anikan slaughter the Sand people but its a pg movie and the point was made.

Yea, that was one of the few things I was disappointed about in the movie. I think he should've shown more of Anakin going nuts, it should've been a real pivotal part of the movie. But I guess he wanted to keep the PG rating.

One other thing that I thought was a little cheesy was when Anakin and Padme were on Naboo, and Anakin was riding that animal. That looked SO fake, not very good cgi that time.

The movie was still awesome though!

Was it just me or did I see regret come across Dooku's face a little when he sliced Anakin's arm?

Yea, good stuff. I think I'm gonna go see it again this afternoon, if my neighbor wants to go I will.

After Episode 3 is done does anyone think there will be an episode 7? Personaly I would love to See Luke begin training children and stuff like Yoda did, Im sure Luke and Lea would be aged but who cares? Lea would make a tight jedi, Han Solo and Lea arent really a good match though, Now Chewbacca and Lea that would have some good looking children.

p.s. Chewy and the Ewoks rock

Lucas already said he won't make any sequels to the original trilogy. I wouldn't wanna see it anyway because people already know what happened, it's in the books, and wouldn't be an "original lucas" story.

OK, it's official. I have finally gotten out to see Episode 2. (I always wait so I can SEE the movie; this way I go to a matinee and there are usually way less people there so no heads block me, heh)

OK, I'll admit: I have heard things about this from people here who are into being movie critics. I'll admit I was influenced ahead of time to expect bad writing and awful acting. BUT.

But... it just wasn't so. I thought the plot progressed smoothly and, well, hate to use the term actually, but "insidiously." (ouch) I like the tie-in with the Trade Federation, I was greatly surprised (and pleasantly so) to find that they were behind the assassination attempts and NOT Dooku, who I expected to be. (Ok, so he was aligned with them, and then through him Palpatine, but hey, they said the Trade Federation in the movie, so we'll go with that. Nice touch, that the Council would then still not realize the growing threat.) I was also pleased that Dooku wasn't just killed off as quickly as Maul; probably the future confrontation with Anakin will be what makes Ani the next Sith Adept. I really liked how I walked away with a sense of how Palpatine is quietly growing in strength and power... and bit by bit worming his way into becoming the Emperor that he will become. (Now we know where the Imperial StormTroopers came from.) He just sits back like a spider in a web, quietly scheming and plotting and pitting everyone against everyone... and the Jedi are just too weak and or blind to realize what the heck is going on. Or simply refuse to believe it. Again, this was written way better than I was led to believe.

The only "lame" part I thought was when Dooku supposedly tried to get Obi-Wan to join him and spilled the beans about Darth Sidious. That was a major boo-boo on his part, methinks; I do believe he's gonna be in a world of hurt on down the road about that. (Like Sidious is unaware that he tipped off the remaining Jedi, yeah right--) Unless he just was SOOOO assured that he would win there.

The fight scenes were wonderfully done; I love the entire arena sequence. But the water world of (was it Camino?) the Cloners was my favorite, so haunting and surreal and beautiful. A nice twist that the bounty hunter who ends up Top Gun and a really nasty fellow is the one who provided the body for the clones (ok, his original did). And I liked how the clones were in StormTrooper armor, and defended the Republic. There were many little juxtapositions like that sprinkled throughout the movie which just added nice touches, as did all the little tie-ins. Like the introduction of Lars' son Owen and his girlfriend, Beru.

OK, on to Anakin. I take back everything I thought about Hayden. I thought he couldn't do it. But he did. You could see the dark just yearning to break out, even from the very beginning. He was sooooo opposite of how Obi-Wan was with Qui-gon; I mean, there was the one time Obi-Wan argued with Qui-Gon and then he sweated bullets over it afterward. But Anakin-- he spoke his mind and just wouldn't back down. Ever. You can clearly see Darth Vader is already alive and well in him.

Personally I'm glad they toned down the love thing. The scenes they showed gave us an idea. But overdoing this would only have made Anakin too "soft." We know he loves Padme, but it has to be more of the tortured kind. I thought their relationship was developed well. Same thing for the Sand People slaughter. Leave it up to the imagination of the audience; anything else would lessen the impact. We already know how tough these people are, I liked how Anakin came back and just went bonkers over what he had done. The agony of hating himself for what he did, yet clearly he loved doing it showed... again, DV in the making.

But dang-- there were so many parts of this movie that just grabbed you and wouldn't let you go... I actually almost cried when little Boba picked up his father's helmet in the side of the arena, all alone and overlooked there. Big mistake on somebody's part, hehe...

All in all I think the tone of this movie was dark, and got darker as it progressed. And Lucas says Episode 3 is going to be even darker???

I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

yes this movie was great, but it could have been better. i mean there wasnt really a fight between windu and jango it was too short and it ended with him getting beheaded. what kinda fight is that? well anyway the middle went kinda slow with ani and padme's relationship developing. but yes that yoda is a spectacular jedi! who could have known he was capable of doing that after seeing him with a cane for so long. and i woulda thought that zam wessle would have gotten a longer part. i just wished that they woulda had some good jedi battles (like darth maul vs obi wan and qui gon in TPM). that kinda battle with good choreography.

i give it a 8/10

know i guess i have to wait another 3 years for my exitement to build. oh well.. it'll be worth it
