Well, I was sitting in the left hand turn lane today waiting for the light to change when I noticed this guy standing on the divider in the middle of the road. I had the creeps about him since I was sorta near the city's homeless shelter. While I was still sitting there waiting for the turn arrow, I kept my eye on the guy through my mirror. He was getting closer. Red flags in my mental line of vision. Next thing I know, the bum is up trying to open my driver's side door.

Rule number 2 from driver's ed saved my butt today. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS (Rule number 1 of course being To make sure the car is secure BEFORE you get in). If I hadn't had this drilled into my skull when I was learning to drive, God only knows what would have happened.

LOCK YOUR DOORS. IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE...OR AT LEAST YOUR WALLET.

Oh, scary, but I'm glad you're here to tell the tale, Mara! As far as I'm concerned a woman can't be too careful in this day and age. I am only about a year from college and definitely have to learn to take care of myself, so the lesson is a much appreciated one.
