Yes the old has to be wiser, but I believe the younger was much more atlietic, and sure of himself. Who do you think would win in a duel?

Of course: the older Obi-Wan, due to his wisdom and contol of the Force.

From personal experience I can tell you that being athletic isn't all it takes to win a duel. All the glitz and fancy moves of Darth Maul (for example) are nothing but show, and are easily overcome by those with the wisdom to remain cool and use the right moves in response.

As a martial arts student, I've seen where an older guy has taken on five (yes, FIVE) young, strong dudes in a staff confrontation... and whupped hiney.

I believe being athletic can lead to an overly-secure sense of self, which tends to blind a person. Heh... look at what happened to Anakin.

i think that the older one would with win because he is much wiser and doesn't try to attack, he simply defends till theres an opening unlike the blood thirsty young Obi 1, but being wise isn't eveyrthing, you have to have a balance between control and strength, it isn't asif you can expect to block a blow sucessfully from a dead strong person if you have arms like twigs

Oh yes you can, if you know the method. Believe me, I know this. I've seen it happen. It's called "using the physicality of your opponent against him."

And it works.

I have NEVER thought young Obi-Wan to be blood thirsty. I wonder what you are basing that on. But, regardless, the older one would win. Wisdom, and all that has been stated.

Young, because I like Ewan McGregor more than whoever played him in Episode 4...
