What do you think the main reason Natalie Portman got the role:
looks or acting skills?

i would have to say its her looks, and her acting skill, looks though, not just in the reason most men would think...she is capable of carring a very distinguished character, and she fits the part of an independent warrior/senater. Then, if you add in her incredable skill at actauly playing the part, she cant be beat...and then add in the fact that she's friggin hott and you got yourself a winner!

Snorts....

You call THAT acting? I could do better ad lib... and I have.

It's her looks, simple as that.

Of course the only one in all the episodes who could act worth diddly was Sir Alec Guiness... and then, of course, Christopher Lee as well. Oh yes, Peter Cushing isn't bad as well.

But Natalie Porter act?
Fades to lurk n' smirk, laughing....

I wanna know what you consider acting, and getting into your character. How much emotion could you actually input to a Queen with make-up such as that, and a culture such as that. I mean, its not one that you could do, yes you have love for your planet, and people but your not going to go out your guide lines at all. Actions, but emotionally I dont see that truly coming out. Next to that, I would love to see a Senator of our state have a large amount of emotion, after a young age of only studying.

Thats all I have to say...

Ummm... she was not a Queen in EP2, so there goes that defense.

You want to see a lady who can act? May I suggest Katharine Hepburn or Meryl Streep or Julia Roberts, if you please.

NOT Miss Portman or --shudders --Carrie Fisher.

Sorry.

Hey, Ewan is a good actor.

But no, I wouldn't classify Natile as a wonderful actress.

And I like Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Don't know if I've seen enough Katherine Hepburn to know. I'm sure she could act though.

Ermm... Miss Hepburn has won a bunch of Oscars, I believe, as well as was placed in some Hall of Fame.

I think she would have been knighted if they did that honor to ladies. She has to go down in history as the best actress ever.

I just haven't seen her in much since she is an older actress.

Speaking of Ewan McGregor, he is the best actor in Episode 2... Remember the first trilogy?... Harrison Ford was the only one to make it... Ewan McGregor is my bet to be the only one to make it out of this trilogy...

but back to the Nats Portman thing. She managed to pull off the 5-6 year age gap in only a couple of years. Which wasn't so much her acting ability as her looks plus or minus some make up. I heard she hadn't even seen the original trilogy when she landed the part. Can you imagine George Lucas trying to explain stuff to her after she has seen each of the films? "ok, EpIV, You're Luke's Mum.", "Ok, EpV, Darth Vader is your husband/father of your son" "Ok, EpVI, Leia's your daughter. don't even ask about the droids!" And to think Anthony Daniels was worried about Threepio needing therapy!
