Ok, as some of you might already be aware, scientists have FINALLY come up with "THE DEFINITION" of what differentiates a planet from other dark and cold bodies that orbit stars. As a direct result, our solar system no longer has nine planets, but eight... with various and sundry "dwarf planets," of which the recently demoted Pluto is now a member. There was a memorization device by which the (former) nine planets could be learned; personally I can't recall it but it has something to do with "my mother" and a "pizza" (the words "my" and "mother" standing for Mercury and Mars, and "pizza" of course for Pluto). LET'S COME UP WITH A NEW ONE NOW!!! The eight planets in order outward from the sun are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. GO FOR IT!! |
